St. Stephens Episcopal Church

 In the winter of 1864 while soldiers from the northern states were searching for housing from the recently devastated town of Milledgeville, many soldiers made their home in St. Stephens Episcopal Church. Memory Hill Cemetery, Final resting place of Flannery O'Connor, Honorable Carl Vinson, Susan Myrick, Charles Holmes Herty, numerous college presidents, the individuals of which the book Paris Trout was written, in addition to 326 Confederate grave sites. Memory Hill Cemetery is located at 300 West Franklin Street.
